The CNY Pride Families

In 2007 and again in 2011, I worked on The CNY Pride Families, a collection of thirty-five photographs of LGBT families and their statements. This exhibition was important because it put a local face on the LGBT families in our community. Some families only included domestic partners and some included children, ex-partners, grandparents and pets. Some writings were done by children explaining what it is like to have two moms. Some partners included the vows from their union ceremony. The portrait studio was not just to make a family portrait, but it turned into a place to celebrate their family, their love, their strength and their togetherness.
